Pallet Delivery

Pallet Delivery UK.
Loaded once, carried direct,
delivered on one vehicle.

Flextro arranges dedicated pallet delivery across the UK. Your pallet is loaded onto one vehicle at collection and stays on it until delivery, so it is not broken down, re-stacked or moved between depots on the way. Single pallets, half pallets, multiple pallets and oversized loads are all quoted on the load in front of us.

  • One vehicle from collection to delivery
  • Single, half, quarter and full pallet loads
  • Oversized and overhanging pallets assessed
  • Tail lift and forklift requirements planned in
  • Photographic proof of delivery on completion

Pallet delivery at a glance

What is a pallet delivery service?

A pallet delivery service moves goods that have been stacked, wrapped and secured onto a wooden or plastic pallet, so the whole load can be lifted and handled as one unit. With Flextro the pallet travels on a dedicated vehicle: it is loaded at collection and stays on that vehicle until it reaches the delivery address, rather than being routed through a shared pallet network of depots and transfer hubs.

That model suits machinery and parts, boxed stock, trade materials, commercial equipment and any palletised load where handling, timing or an awkward shape makes a shared freight network a poor fit. One pallet or a full vehicle load, both are quoted the same way.

Why dedicated

Why choose a dedicated pallet courier?

Most pallet damage and most missed dates come from the same place: the number of times a pallet is lifted, moved and re-stacked between collection and delivery. A dedicated vehicle removes those steps.

Not every pallet needs this. Routine, low-value freight with a flexible date is often cheaper on a shared network.
01

Handled twice, not eight times

The pallet is loaded at your premises and unloaded at the delivery address. It is not tipped at a hub, re-stacked or moved between trailers along the way.

02

The vehicle matches the load

Height, footprint, weight and whether a tail lift is needed are all checked before a vehicle is assigned, so the pallet is not turned away at collection.

03

A direct route

The vehicle travels from your collection point to the delivery address. There is no depot leg, no overnight trunking and no waiting for a network schedule.

04

Shapes a network refuses

Overhanging edges, tall builds, long items and non-standard bases can usually be carried when the vehicle is dedicated to the job.

05

Access planned in advance

Restricted yards, missing forklifts, booking-in windows and height limits are agreed before collection rather than discovered by the driver.

06

One point of contact

You deal with the team that quoted the job, so a question about the pallet does not get passed to a general network call centre.

Sizes and dimensions

What are the standard UK pallet sizes?

Two footprints cover most UK pallet movements. What changes the vehicle is usually the finished height and the weight, not the base.

Measure the pallet once it is loaded and wrapped, including anything that overhangs the edge. That figure is what the vehicle has to fit.

Start here

Start with the pallet, not the price list

Four answers are enough for Flextro to tell you which vehicle the job needs and what it will cost.
Floor space

How many pallets?

One pallet, a part load or a full vehicle. The count sets the floor space required and rules some vehicles out immediately.

Vehicle height

How tall once wrapped?

Finished height decides whether a van, a Luton box or a larger vehicle is needed. Measure after wrapping, not before.

Payload

How heavy?

Weight per pallet matters as much as size. A compact pallet of metal parts can need a bigger vehicle than a tall pallet of boxes.

Loading method

Who lifts it on and off?

Forklift at both ends, one end, or neither. This is the single most common cause of a failed pallet collection.

What we move

From a single pallet to oversized, awkward freight

The same dedicated model covers a one-off half pallet and a vehicle load of machinery. What changes is the vehicle and the loading plan.

Single

One-off pallet delivery

A single pallet collected and delivered on its own dedicated run, for urgent stock, a warranty return or a one-time supply of parts.

Standard

Standard and half pallets

Ordinary UK and Euro pallets of boxed stock, trade materials or packaged components, wrapped and ready to lift.

Multiple

Multiple pallets and bulk stock

Part loads and full vehicle loads where several pallets travel together to one destination on one booking.

Oversized

Oversized pallet delivery

Loads that overhang the base, build higher than a network will accept, or sit on a custom frame or crate.

Heavy

Heavy and dense loads

Engines, castings, metal stock and machinery where weight rather than size decides the vehicle and the lifting method.

Fragile

Sensitive and high-value loads

Equipment where the risk is handling rather than distance, and where staying on one vehicle is the point of the booking.

Two different models

Dedicated pallet courier vs a shared pallet network

Both move pallets. They handle them a very different number of times, and that is what shapes cost, timing and risk.

A shared pallet network is often the cheaper option for routine freight on a flexible date. A dedicated vehicle earns its cost when handling, timing or shape matter.

How pallet delivery works

How does Flextro pallet delivery work?

In four steps. You send the route and the pallet details; Flextro confirms the vehicle, the loading method at each end and a fixed price; a dedicated vehicle collects the pallet; and it is delivered direct with photographic proof of delivery. No payment is taken up front.

01 · Quote

Tell us the job

Share the collection and delivery postcodes, the pallet count, finished dimensions and weight, and what is on the pallet.

02 · Confirm

Agree vehicle and price

Flextro confirms the vehicle for the load, whether a tail lift is needed at either end, realistic timing and a fixed price before the booking is accepted.

03 · Collect

Dedicated collection

A vehicle assigned to your pallet alone collects from the agreed address and begins the direct journey, with no depot transfers on the way.

04 · Deliver

Delivery & POD

The pallet is unloaded by the agreed method at the destination and photographic proof of delivery is recorded for your records.

Non-standard loads

Can you send an oversized or overhanging pallet?

Usually yes. A pallet that a shared network refuses is often straightforward on a dedicated vehicle, because the only question is whether it fits and can be lifted safely.

Send photographs with the enquiry where you can. A picture of the loaded pallet answers most of these questions at once.

Finished height

Measure from the floor to the highest point once wrapped. Anything above roughly 1.8 m usually needs a box vehicle rather than a van.

Overhang

Tell us how far the load extends beyond the base on each side. Overhang affects how the pallet is loaded and what can travel alongside it.

Weight and balance

Total weight plus whether the load is evenly distributed. A top-heavy or off-centre pallet changes how it must be secured.

Base condition

Whether it sits on a sound pallet, a custom frame or a crate, and whether forks can enter from two sides or four.

Handling restrictions

Anything that must stay upright, must not be stacked, or needs particular care when lifted.

Site limits at both ends

Yard space, gate widths, low canopies and any height restriction the delivery vehicle has to clear.

Vehicle matching

Which vehicle does your pallet load need?

Five vehicle classes, matched to the load rather than chosen by you. For pallet work the deciding factors are finished height, floor footprint and total weight. Send those and Flextro will confirm which vehicle the job needs, and often that a smaller one will do.

Not sure which vehicle you need?

Send the pallet count, finished dimensions, weight and what lifting equipment is available at each end. Flextro will match the load to the smallest suitable vehicle that is actually available.

Help me choose a vehicle

Pallet capacities are a planning guide. Finished height and weight decide the vehicle, so send your own measurements.

Loading and access

Do you need a forklift or a tail lift for pallet delivery?

One of the two ends usually decides it. If there is a forklift at collection and at delivery, most pallets load straightforwardly. If either end has no lifting equipment, a tail lift vehicle and a pump truck need to be arranged in advance.

A tail lift needs firm, level ground and enough clear space behind the vehicle. Gravel, a steep slope or a tight kerbside can rule it out.
Both ends

Forklift at both ends

The simplest arrangement. The pallet is lifted straight on at collection and straight off at delivery, and vehicle choice is driven purely by size and weight.

One end

Forklift at one end only

Workable, but the vehicle must carry a tail lift for the other end. Tell us which end has the forklift so the right vehicle is assigned.

Neither end

No forklift at either end

A tail lift vehicle with a pump truck is needed at both ends. This affects vehicle availability and cost, so flag it at quote stage.

Yard access

Loading bay and yard access

Bay height, turning space, gate width and whether the vehicle can reverse in. A vehicle that cannot get on site cannot collect the pallet.

Site rules

Booking-in and site rules

Many warehouses and construction sites require a delivery slot, a site induction or PPE. Send these requirements with the enquiry.

Residential

Residential and restricted addresses

Kerbside delivery to a residential address can often be arranged with a tail lift, but the ground and access need checking first.

Preparation

How do you prepare a pallet for courier collection?

A well-built pallet is quicker to load, safer in transit and far less likely to be refused at collection. Build it, measure it, then plan how it will be lifted at each end. If the pallet is not ready when the driver arrives, the collection may need to be rebooked.

Build and secure the load

Most refused collections come down to a pallet that cannot be lifted safely. Three things prevent it.

  • Start with a sound pallet. Use a pallet with no split boards, no protruding nails and no cracked bearers. Check that a forklift can enter from at least two sides.
  • Build a stable load. Put the heaviest items at the bottom, keep the stack square to the base and avoid overhang wherever you can. Fill gaps so nothing can shift.
  • Secure the goods. Wrap the load to the pallet with several turns of stretch film taken down over the edge of the base. Add strapping or corner boards for heavy or sharp items.
Start a pallet quote →

Measure and weigh it

Four numbers decide which vehicle is assigned, so take them from the finished pallet rather than the goods alone.

  • Record length, width and finished height including any overhang, plus the total weight. These four numbers decide the vehicle.
  • Measure after wrapping, not before
  • Include anything that overhangs the base on any side
  • Give weight per pallet where there is more than one
See vehicle options →

Label and plan access

The last step is making sure the pallet can be identified on arrival and lifted at both ends of the journey.

  • Mark the delivery address clearly on two sides, add any handling instructions, and confirm who will lift the pallet at each end.
  • Note anything that must stay upright or must not be stacked
  • Confirm booking-in times or site inductions in advance

Before you book

How much does pallet delivery cost in the UK?

There is no single fixed price for a pallet. Dedicated pallet delivery is quoted per job, because a vehicle is assigned to your load alone rather than sharing space with other freight. Flextro confirms the price before you book, and the agreed price is the price you pay.

What affects the cost of pallet delivery?

Cost rises with distance, with the size of vehicle the pallet requires, and with any handling equipment the job needs. A single pallet on a short local run with forklifts at both ends sits at the lower end.

  • Distance between collection and delivery
  • Vehicle required for height, footprint and weight
  • Whether a tail lift and pump truck are needed
  • Number of pallets and how they load together
  • Collection urgency and any fixed delivery window

A tall or heavy pallet travelling several hundred miles and needing a tail lift at both ends sits at the higher end.

What can be sent

What can you send on a pallet?

Most packaged commercial goods travel well on a pallet. Tell Flextro about anything fragile, high-value, hazardous, temperature-sensitive or subject to special handling before the booking is accepted.

Machinery and parts

Packaged components, tooling, spares and workshop equipment on a pallet or frame.

Automotive components

Engines, gearboxes, body panels and dealer stock crated or strapped to a pallet.

Boxed stock

Cartons of retail or wholesale product wrapped as a single palletised unit.

Trade and building materials

Fixings, packaged materials and site supplies for construction and trade deliveries.

Commercial equipment

Catering, retail display, IT and office equipment palletised for a single move.

Event and exhibition materials

Stands, print, staging and merchandise moving to and from venues on a fixed date.

Manufacturing supplies

Raw materials, sub-assemblies and production consumables between sites and suppliers.

Oversized packaged goods

Long, tall or awkward items secured to a pallet or custom base for transport.

Returns and warranty items

Faulty equipment, exchange units and end-of-contract stock going back to a supplier or depot.

Pallet delivery for business

Pallet delivery built around your operation

Pallet work tends to come from businesses where a delayed or damaged load stops something else from happening: a production line, a site install, a customer order or an exhibition build.

For organisations moving pallets regularly, a Flextro customer account can support repeat bookings and ongoing pallet delivery requirements without changing the core service on this page.

UK coverage

Where does Flextro collect and deliver pallets?

Flextro arranges pallet collection and delivery across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Because the vehicle is dedicated rather than routed through depots, jobs are assessed on the route itself rather than on whether both postcodes sit inside a fixed network footprint.

Local, regional and long-distance

A cross-town pallet move and a run from the south coast to central Scotland are priced the same way, on the actual route.

Industrial estates and warehouses

Collections and deliveries at commercial premises with loading bays, forklifts and booking-in procedures.

Out-of-hours by arrangement

Early collections, evening deliveries, weekends and bank holidays can be discussed and confirmed for the specific job.

Visibility

How do you track a pallet and prove it was delivered?

Because the pallet stays on one vehicle, an update reflects where your load actually is rather than which depot last scanned it. Progress is confirmed on request and photographic proof of delivery is recorded on completion.

Collection confirmed

You are told when the pallet has been loaded and the vehicle is on its way.

Progress on request

Ask at any point and you get the current position and a realistic delivery estimate for that vehicle.

Photographic proof of delivery

The delivered pallet is photographed and the recipient details recorded on completion.

Booking clarity

Five things Flextro confirms before a pallet booking

A pallet job fails at the kerb when something was assumed rather than agreed. Each of these is settled before a vehicle is assigned.

Flextro also confirms the direct route, what affects collection and delivery timing, what details are needed for an accurate quote and what documentation follows delivery, instead of relying on vague claims about speed or price.

Common questions

Pallet delivery questions, answered

The practical questions businesses usually need resolved before sending a pallet.

What is a pallet courier?

A pallet courier collects goods that have been stacked and secured onto a pallet and delivers them as a single unit. Flextro operates as a dedicated pallet courier, which means one vehicle is assigned to your load and carries it from collection straight to the delivery address, rather than passing it through a network of depots.

How much does pallet delivery cost in the UK?

There is no single fixed price. Dedicated pallet delivery is quoted per job based on the distance between collection and delivery, the vehicle the load requires, whether a tail lift or pump truck is needed, and how urgent the collection is. Send the postcodes, pallet count, finished dimensions and weight, and Flextro will confirm a fixed price before you book.

What is a standard UK pallet size?

The standard UK pallet base measures 1200 by 1000 mm. The Euro pallet, which is also common in Britain, measures 1200 by 800 mm. Half pallets are usually around 1200 by 600 mm and quarter pallets around 600 by 500 mm. What most affects vehicle choice is the finished height once the pallet is loaded and wrapped.

Can Flextro collect a single pallet?

Yes. A single pallet is a common booking. Because the vehicle is dedicated rather than shared, there is no minimum consignment size and no requirement to fill a trailer. Half and quarter pallets are handled the same way.

Do I need a forklift for pallet collection or delivery?

Not necessarily, but it needs to be agreed in advance. If a forklift is available at both ends, loading is straightforward. If either end has no lifting equipment, a vehicle with a tail lift and a pump truck must be arranged, and the ground needs to be firm and level enough to operate it safely.

Can you deliver oversized or overhanging pallets?

Usually yes. Loads that overhang the base, build taller than a shared network will accept, or sit on a custom frame or crate can normally be carried on a dedicated vehicle. Send the finished dimensions, the weight and photographs where possible so the right vehicle can be assessed.

How heavy can a pallet be?

It depends on the vehicle. Most palletised loads Flextro carries fall between roughly 250 kg and 1,000 kg per pallet, though heavier single items can often be arranged. Weight and how it is distributed across the base both matter, so give the actual figure rather than an estimate where you can.

Will my pallet be transferred through depots?

No. With Flextro the pallet is loaded onto one vehicle at collection and stays on it until delivery. There is no hub transfer, no re-stacking and no overnight trunking, which is the main reason businesses choose a dedicated pallet courier over a shared network.

How should I prepare a pallet for collection?

Use a sound pallet with no split boards, stack the heaviest items at the bottom, keep the load square to the base, and wrap it firmly with stretch film taken over the edge of the pallet. Add strapping for heavy or sharp items, then measure the finished height and record the total weight before the vehicle arrives.

Can a pallet be collected or delivered at a residential address?

Often yes, but it needs checking first. Residential deliveries usually require a tail lift and a pump truck, plus firm level ground and enough space for the vehicle to park and operate safely. Narrow roads, gravel drives and steep slopes can make a pallet delivery impractical, so confirm the address details at quote stage.

Can I send an engine or gearbox on a pallet?

Yes, provided it is drained, secured to a sound pallet or frame and safe to lift. Dense automotive items concentrate a lot of weight in a small footprint, so the weight and the lifting method matter more than the size. Flag it at quote stage so the correct vehicle is assigned.

How quickly can a pallet be collected?

Timing depends on vehicle availability, the route and the loading arrangements at both ends. Urgent same day pallet collection can often be arranged where a suitable vehicle is free. If your requirement is speed above all else, the same day courier service page explains how urgent bookings are handled.

Can I book pallet delivery for a specific future date?

Yes. Planned and scheduled pallet movements can be booked in advance with an agreed collection window and delivery date. For deliveries that simply need to arrive the following working day, see the next day courier service.

Do you handle regular or repeat pallet runs?

Yes. Where the same pallet movement happens weekly or monthly, it can be set up as a scheduled route so the details do not need re-explaining each time. The contract courier service page covers how recurring routes are arranged.

What proof of delivery is provided?

Photographic proof of delivery is recorded on completion, along with the recipient details and the time the pallet was delivered. If your goods require a specific signature or paperwork process, agree it when the booking is made.

Is my pallet insured in transit?

Consignments are carried under goods-in-transit insurance, subject to policy terms, limits and exclusions. Cover is not unlimited, so declare high-value loads when you request the quote and the position can be confirmed for your consignment before booking. There is a fuller explanation in the goods-in-transit insurance guide.

What cannot be sent on a pallet?

Flextro does not carry goods classified as hazardous for ADR transport, live animals, or loose unpackaged loads. Temperature-controlled and high-value goods need to be discussed before booking so suitable arrangements and any additional cover can be confirmed.
