Retail courier at a glance

What is a retail courier?

A retail courier is a dedicated delivery service for stock, orders and returns moving between warehouses, stores and customers. Flextro collects the consignment and takes it directly to the destination, on one vehicle, with no parcel depot in between.

The work is usually one of two kinds. Urgent deliveries, such as a best-seller running out in store or a customer order that has to arrive today. And planned movements, such as replenishment rounds, store transfers and returns collections, which run to a schedule.

The difference from a parcel network is control over the promise. A customer order or a store delivery arrives at the time you were quoted, not within a carrier’s window, and several stores can be served on one planned route.

Courier options for retail

Retail courier services for stores and online retailers

Most retail delivery falls into six patterns, from an order that must reach a customer today to the same replenishment round every morning. Each one runs on a vehicle dedicated to your job.

Before the vehicle leaves

What we confirm before a retail job starts

A delivery that arrives after the store has opened, or an order left without proof, costs as much as a late one. These six details are agreed before collection.

You do not need all six to call. Give us what you know and we will ask for the rest.
Stock

What is moving

Cartons, rails, cages or pallets, with quantity, size and weight.

Collection

Where it is now

Your warehouse, a supplier, a store or a fulfilment partner, and the contact releasing it.

Delivery

Where it needs to be

The store, stockroom or customer address, with any rear entrance or loading bay.

Window

When it must arrive

Before opening, a customer slot or a launch time, so the job is planned backwards from that.

Handling

How it must travel

Hanging garments, fragile displays, upright items, or two people for bulky orders.

Reference

How it is recorded

Order or store references on the booking, and proof of delivery at every stop.

When stock or an order is urgent

How does a retail courier work?

In four steps. You tell us the stock and the destination; Flextro assigns a vehicle and fixes the price; the driver collects from the warehouse, supplier or store; and it is delivered direct with proof of delivery. The booking line is open 24 hours a day.

Flextro works to a 60-minute collection target in most areas. Call 020 4576 3438 when a store or customer is waiting.

One journey to the store or customer, updates on the way and proof of delivery on handover.

Nationwide retail coverage

Where does Flextro deliver for retailers?

Across the whole UK. Flextro collects from warehouses, suppliers and stores and delivers to high streets, shopping centres, retail parks and customers in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Stock does not stop at a regional boundary. A transfer from a store in London can go straight to a store in Manchester, or orders from a warehouse in Milton Keynes to customers across the South East, on the same vehicle from collection to delivery.

Vehicle matching

Which vehicle does a retail delivery need?

It depends on the stock. A few orders fit a small van, a store delivery needs an SWB or LWB, and a multi-store round or furniture needs a Luton. Give the carton count, size and stops and the vehicle is matched for you.

For retailers and brands

One courier account for retail businesses

If stock moves between your warehouse, stores and customers every week, a Flextro business account replaces booking each job with agreed rates, scheduled rounds and one monthly invoice. An urgent order still gets its own vehicle, on the same account.

Stores, delivery windows, loading bays and contacts are kept on file. When a store runs short, the booking team already knows where the stock is going, so briefing an urgent job takes a sentence.

Retail courier pricing

How much does a retail courier cost?

A retail courier is priced on three things: how quickly the stock has to arrive, the vehicle the load needs, and the route including the number of stops. There is no rate card, because one urgent order and a ten-store round are different jobs.

Your price is fixed before the booking is accepted. No percentage of the stock’s value, and no surcharges added afterwards.

Response time

How quickly the stock must arrive.

  • Same day for a store or customer
  • Next day or scheduled rounds
  • Evening, weekend or bank holiday work

Replenishment booked ahead costs less than the same stock raised as urgent.

Vehicle and load

The smallest vehicle that carries the load.

  • Cartons, cages or pallets
  • Hanging garments or bulky items
  • Two-person handling for furniture

The load is used to size the vehicle, not to price the goods.

Route and stops

The journey and the number of drops.

  • Collection-to-store mileage
  • Number of stores or customers
  • Loading bay and delivery-window time

Regular store rounds are priced once and invoiced monthly on an account.
