Automotive courier at a glance

What is an automotive courier?

An automotive courier is a dedicated delivery service for vehicle parts, panels, tools and equipment moving between dealers, distributors, bodyshops and workshops. Flextro collects the consignment and drives it directly to the site that needs it, on one vehicle, with no parcel depot in between.

Most work is one of two kinds. Urgent parts, where a car is on the ramp or a customer is waiting and the part has to arrive today. And planned movements, such as daily parts runs from a distributor, dealer-to-dealer stock transfers and returns, which run to a schedule and cost less booked ahead.

The difference from a parcel network matters most with body parts. A bumper, bonnet or door is loaded once and handed over once, so it is not stacked or sorted at a hub alongside other freight, and it arrives when the workshop was told it would.

Courier options for the motor trade

Automotive courier services for dealers, bodyshops and garages

Most motor trade delivery falls into six patterns, from a part holding a car on the ramp to the same parts run every morning. Each one runs on a vehicle dedicated to your job.

Not sure which fits? Describe the part and the deadline, and Flextro will match the service and confirm the price before you commit.

What the motor trade sends

What does an automotive courier carry?

Anything the motor trade needs moved that fits a van, from a single sensor to a pallet of tyres. These are the consignments dealers, bodyshops and distributors ask us to move most often.

Mechanical and electrical parts

Brakes, clutches, suspension, sensors and modules for cars on the ramp.

Body panels and glass

Bumpers, bonnets, doors, wings and glass, carried flat and protected.

Diagnostic and workshop tools

Diagnostic equipment, special tools and loan kit moving between branches.

Dealer stock and accessories

Accessories, merchandise and stock transferred between dealers and group sites.

EV and charging equipment

Charging units, cables and control modules. EV traction batteries are checked first.

Engines, gearboxes and tyres

Heavy units and tyre stock on pallets, with a tail lift where the load needs it.

Batteries, airbags or fuel parts? Vehicle and EV batteries, airbag modules and parts containing fuel are dangerous goods. They are checked against what can legally be carried before a booking is accepted. Tell us what the item is when you ask for a quote.

Before the vehicle leaves

What we confirm before an automotive job starts

A panel delivered to the wrong branch, or a gearbox that needs a tail lift nobody booked, costs as much time as a late part. These six details are agreed before collection.

You do not need all six to call. Give us what you know and we will ask for the rest.
Part

What is moving

Part number or description, quantity, size and weight, and whether it is boxed, wrapped or on a pallet.

Collection

Where it is now

A distributor trade counter, a dealer parts department, another branch or a supplier warehouse.

Delivery

Where it needs to be

The workshop, parts counter or bodyshop, with opening hours and any yard or rear entrance.

Timing

When the car is booked

The time the technician needs the part or the customer is due back, so the job is planned from that.

Handling

How it must travel

Painted or primed panels, glass, long exhausts and heavy units, and whether wrapping or a tail lift is needed.

Reference

How it is recorded

Your job card, order or VIN reference on the booking, and proof of delivery at the handover.

When a car is off the road

How does an automotive courier work?

In four steps. You tell us the part and when the car is booked; Flextro assigns a vehicle and fixes the price; the driver collects from the distributor or branch; and it is delivered direct to your workshop with proof of delivery. The booking line is open 24 hours a day, including bank holidays.

Flextro works to a 60-minute collection target in most areas. Call 020 4576 3438 when a car is off the road.

03 · Collect

The driver collects from the distributor, dealer or supplier using your order or job reference.

One journey to your workshop or parts counter, updates on the way and proof of delivery at the handover.

Nationwide motor trade coverage

Where does Flextro collect for the motor trade?

Across the whole UK. Flextro collects from and delivers to dealerships, bodyshops, garages, parts distributors and vehicle plants in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, from city dealer groups to rural independents.

A part does not stop at a regional boundary. A gearbox from a distributor in Coventry can go straight to a workshop in Leeds, or a panel from a dealer in Manchester to a bodyshop in Bristol, on the same vehicle from collection to delivery.

Vehicle matching

Which vehicle does an automotive delivery need?

It depends on the part. A sensor or brake kit fits a small van, a bumper or bonnet needs the floor length of an LWB, and an engine or a pallet of tyres needs a Luton. Give the size, weight and pallet count and the vehicle is matched for you.

For the motor trade

One courier account for dealers and parts distributors

If parts move between your branches or from your distributor every day, a Flextro business account replaces booking each job with agreed rates, scheduled parts runs and one monthly invoice. A car off the road still gets an urgent vehicle, on the same account.

Parts runs are planned around workshop opening and parts cut-off times, with every branch, parts counter and contact kept on file. When a technician needs a part now, the booking team already knows where it is going, so briefing an urgent job takes a sentence.

Automotive courier pricing

How much does an automotive courier cost?

An automotive courier is priced on three things: how quickly the part has to move, the vehicle it needs, and the route including time at each end. There is no rate card, because a sensor this afternoon and a bonnet tomorrow are different jobs.

Your price is fixed before the booking is accepted. No percentage of the part’s value, and no surcharges added afterwards.

Response time

How quickly the part has to be collected and delivered.

  • Same day for a car off the road
  • Next day or scheduled parts runs
  • Evening, weekend or bank holiday work

A part needed before the customer collects costs more than the same part booked for tomorrow.

Vehicle and load

The smallest vehicle that carries the part safely.

  • Size and weight of the part
  • Long or fragile items such as exhausts and panels
  • Tail lift for engines and gearboxes

The part is used to size the vehicle, not to price the part itself.

Route and site time

The journey and the time spent at each end.

  • Collection-to-delivery mileage
  • Loading at trade counters and yards
  • Multi-branch rounds and return legs

Regular parts runs are priced once and invoiced monthly on an account.

Automotive courier FAQs

Questions the motor trade asks before booking

Straight answers for parts managers, service managers, bodyshop owners and anyone arranging a delivery for a dealership or garage.

What is an automotive courier?

An automotive courier is a dedicated delivery service for vehicle parts, panels, tools and equipment moving between dealers, distributors, bodyshops and workshops. Flextro collects the consignment and drives it directly to the site that needs it, on one vehicle, without routing it through a parcel depot.

How quickly can you collect an urgent part?

Flextro works to a 60-minute collection target in most areas, 24 hours a day, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. The exact time depends on the collection address and the vehicle the part needs, and is confirmed when you book.

Can you carry body panels without damage?

Panels travel on a vehicle carrying only your job, so they are not stacked with other freight. They are loaded flat or upright as the part requires and secured for the journey. Tell us if a part is painted, primed or glass so it can be protected accordingly.

Do you handle dealer-to-dealer stock transfers?

Yes. Parts, accessories and stock can be moved between dealers, group sites and branches as one-off jobs or on a regular schedule, with proof of delivery at each handover.

Can you run a daily parts run from our distributor?

Yes. A daily or twice-daily run from a distributor or central warehouse to your branches can be set up as a scheduled contract run with an agreed route, time windows and vehicle, and invoiced monthly on a business account.

Can you move engines, gearboxes and tyres?

Yes. Vehicles range from a small van to a Luton, and a tail lift or a second person can be arranged where the load needs it. Share the weight, dimensions and pallet count so the right vehicle is assigned.

Can you carry car batteries or EV batteries?

Vehicle batteries, including EV traction batteries, and airbag modules are dangerous goods. They are checked against what can legally be carried before a booking is accepted, and some may not be. Tell us exactly what the item is when you request a quote.

How much does an automotive courier cost?

Each job is priced on how quickly it has to move, the vehicle the part needs, and the route including time at each end. You receive a fixed price before you confirm, and it does not change afterwards unless the job changes.

Do you cover the whole of the UK?

Yes. Flextro collects and delivers across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, from city dealer groups to rural garages, and a single job can cross the country on the same vehicle.
