Our same day courier service in Edinburgh puts one van and one driver on your job and nothing else. The driver loads at your door, whether that's a solicitor's office off Charlotte Square, a unit in Sighthill or a flat in Marchmont, then heads directly to the recipient. No depot, no sorting shed, no second vehicle.

Flextro delivers for Edinburgh and UK organisations across healthcare, legal and professional services, housing, IT, retail, eCommerce, manufacturing and construction, from NHS trusts to Croydon-based solicitors and housing providers.

Same-day service explained
An Edinburgh same day courier is a van booked for your consignment alone: it collects from your city address and drives directly to the delivery point, so the goods arrive the day they leave.
Edinburgh jobs tend to arrive with a hard stop attached. A trainee needs signed papers lodged on Chambers Street before the clerk's office breaks for lunch, a production company at a Fringe venue is missing a cable loom, a Leith bonded store has a pallet promised to a buyer in Glasgow, or a shop on George Street has sold out before a busy Saturday. We work back from that deadline.
Local collection, nationwide reach
We collect from any address in the city, from the closes of the Old Town to the sheds at Bankhead and Sighthill, for same-day delivery in Edinburgh itself or a direct run along the M8, over the Queensferry Crossing or down the A1. You agree the van, the route and the price before anyone sets off.

Why dedicated delivery
The practical booking factors that decide how an urgent Edinburgh collection runs: the journey, the collection timing, the vehicle, the site access, the communication and the record at the end.
The consignment travels from the booked collection point to the destination on the dedicated journey rather than being routed through a parcel sorting network.
For urgent work, the exact postcode and readiness time are checked against available vehicles so the collection expectation is clear before confirmation.
Dimensions, weight, pallet count and access determine whether a small van or a larger commercial vehicle is the better option.
Reception procedures, loading bays, security, timed slots and contact details can be recorded before the driver arrives.
Delivery updates make it easier for the sender and recipient to manage a time-critical handover.
A delivery record closes the job and gives the sender confirmation that the consignment reached the destination.
Booking process
A four-stage process built around the actual route, load and deadline.
Send both postcodes, item details, readiness time, deadline and any access instructions.
Flextro matches the job to an appropriate vehicle and confirms the booking details before dispatch.
The assigned courier attends the collection point, checks the handover and starts the direct journey.
The consignment is handed over at destination and proof of delivery completes the booking.
Dedicated vs network delivery
The dedicated model is useful when the delivery needs to move as one job rather than enter a shared parcel network.
Customer feedback
Edinburgh service area
An ordinary week of Edinburgh pick-ups covers a lot of ground: law firms and fund managers in the New Town and around the Exchange, festival venues and university departments in the Old Town, bonded stores and trade counters in Leith and Seafield, the distribution sheds of Sighthill and Bankhead, and the offices of Edinburgh Park and South Gyle. Plenty of courier companies in Edinburgh run multi-drop rounds. We don't; before quoting we find the free driver closest to your postcode.
The A720 city bypass is the spine for most Edinburgh work. It meets the M8 at Hermiston Gait for Glasgow and the west, joins the M9 and the Queensferry Crossing at the airport end for Fife, Perth and the north, and runs east to the A1 for the coast and England. Inside the bypass, journeys are slower than the miles suggest: the tram line, bus lanes and a 20 mph limit on many streets all add minutes. A van leaving the Exchange at 09:00 is usually in Glasgow before 10:30 and Newcastle around lunchtime.
Type the destination to open its local page, or start a quote for any UK postcode.
Local operating context
Edinburgh jobs rarely go wrong on the bypass. They go wrong in the last few hundred metres. The city-centre Low Emission Zone applies around the clock, the tram line runs along Princes Street and Leith Walk, bus lanes are camera-enforced, the Old Town is a tangle of closes and one-way streets, and in August the Festival closes the Royal Mile to vehicles for most of the day. A driver can reach almost any door if we know which door it is. A full postcode, the entrance or loading point, a phone that gets answered and an honest ready time keep the job on schedule.
Choose the van by the load, not the distance. Papers, laptops, sample boxes and a few cartons go in a small van, which is also the easiest to stop on a New Town street or by a close in the Old Town. Pallets out of Sighthill, shop fittings for St James Quarter or staging for a Festival venue need a long-wheelbase or a Luton with a tail-lift. Mention steps, a goods lift or a gate code at either end when you book.
Edinburgh route examples
Courier services in Edinburgh get booked for four kinds of work more than any other, and each runs to its own sort of deadline.
Signed contracts, settlement papers, court productions and client files moving between firms, banks, fund managers and the courts, often with an office closing time at the far end.
Document courier →IT equipment, display material and paperwork for offices around Festival Square and the business parks by the Gyle, where reception desks and barriers set the pace of the handover.
Business courier →Pallets, spare parts and trade orders leaving the western estates and the port for sites across central Scotland and south into England.
Pallet courier →Staging, AV kit, print and merchandise that has to be inside a venue before the doors open or the street closures start.

The service can support permitted, properly packed consignments that fit the available vehicle and booking requirements.
Signed agreements, court bundles, tenders and confidential business paperwork requiring direct handover.
Urgent replenishment, replacement orders, samples and store-to-store stock movements.
Replacement components, site tools, IT hardware and business equipment needed without a next-day delay.
Single or multiple pallets where vehicle size, loading method and access are confirmed before dispatch.
Print, graphics, merchandise and equipment for venues, exhibitions, launches and production deadlines.
Fragile, valuable or unusual items where the handling, packaging and insurance requirements are agreed before booking.
Vehicle choice
Tell us the dimensions, weight, pallet count and loading method. Flextro can then match the booking to an appropriate vehicle rather than guessing from item type alone.

Choose XLWB Van →

Business demand
Edinburgh earns its living from law and finance in the New Town and the Exchange, universities and software firms, a festival and conference calendar that fills the city every August, a regional shopping centre, and trade and distribution on the western estates and at Leith.
Productions, deeds and signed papers for firms near Parliament House and Chambers Street, and for banks and investment houses on George Street and around the Exchange.
View relevant service →Laptops, servers and lab-office equipment for software teams at Quartermile and Edinburgh Park, and for university departments moving kit between campuses.
View relevant service →Stage sets, lighting, print and merchandise for Fringe venues, the EICC, Murrayfield and shows at the Royal Highland Centre.
View relevant service →Store transfers, window displays and urgent customer orders for Princes Street, St James Quarter, the Gyle and Fort Kinnaird.
View relevant service →Trade orders, building supplies and replacement parts from merchants and distributors in Sighthill, Bankhead, Seafield and along Gorgie Road.
View relevant service →Packaging, ingredients, bottled stock and machine spares for producers, bonded stores and workshops in Leith and the west of the city.
View relevant service →Pricing
Every Edinburgh run is priced on its own. Distance, van size, how soon the driver has to be with you, access at each address and any waiting time set the figure; there's no flat city rate.
An envelope from the New Town to Leith and a Luton of exhibition kit from Ingliston to Birmingham have almost nothing in common, so the quote is built from your two postcodes, the load and the time it must arrive. You see it before you decide.
The quote is confirmed before the booking is accepted, and the agreed price is the price you pay.

Questions before booking
Questions people ask before they book a same day courier in Edinburgh, answered by the people who plan our drivers' routes.
That rests on where our nearest free driver is, which side of the bypass you're on and when the goods will really be ready. When you ask for a price we check the drivers near your postcode and give you a collection time before you commit. If the pick-up is on the Royal Mile in August or near Murrayfield on match day, we'll say so if the closures will add time.
The whole city inside the bypass and the western estates beyond it: the Old and New Towns, Leith and Granton, Gorgie and Murrayfield, the Gyle, Sighthill and the airport, south Edinburgh down to Gilmerton and Currie, and the east side out to Portobello. Villages west of the airport are closer to Livingston, which has its own page, and so does Dunfermline over the Forth.
Only if it fails the standard, and ours are chosen to meet it. The zone covers the city centre, roughly the loop the council describes from Tollcross to Palmerston Place, Queen Street, Picardy Place and the Pleasance, and runs 24 hours a day. Under the Scottish LEZ rules a diesel van needs Euro 6 and a petrol van Euro 4. A non-compliant van entering is fined £60, doubling for repeat entries.
Yes, but the hours matter. For Summertime Streets 2026 the council closed the High Street, Parliament Square, Cockburn Street and St Giles' Street to vehicles from 10:30, with loading set by temporary signs and part of St Giles' Street kept for loading. We aim to drop before 10:30 or use the permitted bays. Our event delivery page covers getting kit into venues.
Not where you might expect. Trams run along Princes Street, the bus lanes are camera-enforced, and most New Town shops and offices receive goods from the mews lanes behind them, such as Rose Street Lane or Thistle Street Lane. Give us the rear entrance and a contact. Our retail delivery page explains how store transfers and back-door drops work.
Yes. The Court of Session sits in Parliament House off the Royal Mile, and Edinburgh Sheriff Court is at 27 Chambers Street, where the clerk's office opens 09:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 16:00. Our urgent document courier covers signed handovers, and this guide to court bundle delivery deals with packing and filing deadlines.
Central London is about 403 miles by road, a full day's drive: usually eight to nine hours before rest breaks, by the A1 or the M74 and M6. A van that leaves Edinburgh by about 08:00 normally delivers in the evening. If tomorrow morning is early enough, our next-day courier option usually costs less; ask us to price both.
Central Glasgow is about 45 miles along the M8, usually 70 to 90 minutes, longer at the Hermiston Gait end in the evening peak. Falkirk is about 28 miles and Stirling about 38 by the M9, usually 45 minutes to an hour. Glasgow has its own Low Emission Zone, so tell us if the drop is in its centre.
Yes, daily. Kirkcaldy is about 28 miles over the Queensferry Crossing and up the A92, usually 45 minutes to an hour. Perth is about 43 miles by the M90, usually 70 to 85 minutes. For a pick-up on the north shore, quote from the collection postcode and we'll send the nearest free driver.
Yes. Dundee is about 56 miles, usually an hour and a half to an hour and three-quarters. Aberdeen is about 127 miles, usually two and three-quarter to three and a quarter hours, and Inverness about 157 miles by the A9, usually three and a half to four hours. Send the latest acceptable arrival time and we'll confirm the timing before you book.
Galashiels is about 36 miles down the A7, usually an hour to an hour and a quarter. Newcastle is about 121 miles by the A1 or A68, usually two and a half to three hours. Carlisle is about 92 miles via the M74, usually two and a quarter to two and three-quarter hours.
Yes, on a morning collection. Leeds is about 219 miles and Manchester about 212, each usually four and a half to five and a quarter hours. Birmingham is about 287 miles, usually six to six and three-quarter hours. Tell us when the goods will be ready and the latest the far end can accept them, and we'll say plainly whether it works.
Yes, and it makes up a good share of our Edinburgh work. When a line has stopped or a vehicle is off the road waiting for a part, our emergency courier service handles drop-everything runs. For heavier loads the pallet courier page covers tail-lifts, and this guide on preparing a pallet for collection saves time at the dock.
Each job is priced separately: distance, van size, the weight and bulk of the load, how soon it must leave and any loading or waiting. This explainer on how same-day courier pricing works shows what moves the figure, and our goods-in-transit insurance guide covers what is insured. We take bookings 24 hours a day, every day; ring 020 4576 3438.
